Teen Killed, Three Arrested in Douglas County Shooting

A 16-year-old boy died following a shooting in the Elk Run Subdivision on Wednesday night, and three suspects, including another juvenile, have been arrested, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies responded to a shooting call at approximately 8:26 p.m. on February 12, 2025, in the 6200 block of High Country Drive. Upon arrival, they found a 16-year-old male suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical personnel were called to the scene while deputies located three other individuals nearby—two young adults and another juvenile—who were friends of the victim.

Around the same time, a second shooting victim, identified as 21-year-old Juan Carlos Arellano of Atlanta, arrived at Douglas WellStar Hospital with a gunshot wound to the shoulder. Deputies responded to the hospital as part of the investigation.

Douglas County investigators and Crime Scene Units processed both locations, recovering multiple vehicles, weapons, and live and spent ammunition. The 16-year-old victim was transported to the hospital, where he underwent several hours of emergency surgery before succumbing to his injuries early Thursday morning at 8:36 a.m.

Three suspects have been taken into custody and are facing adult charges:

  • Sidq Beour Zakaa Hujaahid, 18, of Bomar Road, Douglasville – Charged with Party to the Crimes of Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault.
  • Jaeson Daries Cooper, 18, of Soaring Drive, Douglasville – Charged with Party to the Crimes of Armed Robbery and Aggravated Assault.
  • An unidentified juvenile suspect is also facing charges as an adult, but details have not been released.
