A traffic stop by Fayette County deputies on State Route 85 North led to a multi-county pursuit involving multiple law enforcement agencies and an exchange of gunfire around 7 p.m. on Monday, February 3.

Deputies initiated the stop after identifying a vehicle suspected to be connected to recent entering auto reports in South Fulton County. The pursuit began in Fayette County, continued into Clayton County, then returned to Fayette before re-entering Clayton.

During the chase, the passenger of the fleeing vehicle fired multiple gunshots at pursuing deputies. The pursuit ended when the suspects crashed at the intersection of Highway 19-41 and Winding Way Lane in Clayton County, where additional shots were fired.

A female suspect was taken into custody at the scene, while a male suspect was transported to Grady Hospital with gunshot wounds. No deputies from Fayette County or Clayton County were injured.
