Christopher Toussant Promoted to Deputy Director of Georgia Office of Victim Services
The Georgia Office of Victim Services (GOVS) has announced the promotion of Christopher Toussant to Deputy Director.
Toussant, a graduate of Clayton State University, holds a Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Studies with a minor in Criminal Justice, a Master’s in Criminal Justice (2018), and a Master’s in Public Administration (2021).
Bringing over a decade of experience in victim advocacy and criminal justice, Toussant began his career with the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office before joining the State Board of Pardons and Paroles in 2017 as a Victim Services Specialist.
In November 2020, Toussant transitioned to a role as Court Support Manager with Fulton County Pretrial Services, Supervision Unit. The following year, he was promoted to Assistant Chief Deputy Clerk with the Fulton County Clerk of Superior and Magistrate Court, overseeing the Board of Equalizations’ operations.
Toussant rejoined GOVS in 2022, advancing through the roles of Senior Victim Services Specialist, Lead Program Coordinator, and Program Manager. During his tenure, he has led notable initiatives, including the first statewide Georgia Office of Victim Services Training Conference and panel discussions during National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.
Toussant holds multiple credentials, including POST-Certified Instructor status, national certification as a victim advocate, and certification in Critical Stress Incident Management. He also serves as a Victim-Offender Dialogue Facilitator and is a graduate of the American Probation and Parole Association Leadership Institute. His contributions have earned him the Norm Helber and Joe Keegan Awards.
An active member of professional organizations, Toussant is involved with the Georgia Professional Association of Community Supervision, the American Probation and Parole Association, the National Organization for Victim Advocacy, and the National Association of Victim Assistance in Corrections. He also serves on the Alumni Advisory Board for Clayton State University.
GOVS, represented by the Georgia Department of Corrections, the Parole Board, and the Georgia Department of Community Supervision, provides post-conviction services to crime victims, including notifications.
