Franklin County Man Arrested After Traffic Stop Leads to Discovery of Drugs and Firearms

On January 7, 2025, the Franklin County Sheriff’s Office arrested Rex Lamar Gibby, 54, of Carnesville, GA, following a traffic stop in the Carnesville area. During the stop, it was discovered that Gibby had an outstanding arrest warrant from Franklin County and was driving with a suspended license. He was placed under arrest, and a wrecker was called for his vehicle.

An inventory of the vehicle revealed a clear bag containing suspected methamphetamine and a small amount of suspected marijuana. Further investigation led officers to locate two firearms and several smoking devices in the vehicle.

Gibby was transported to the Franklin County Jail without incident and is currently facing charges including Possession of Methamphetamine, Possession of Marijuana (less than an ounce), Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon, Failure to Maintain Insurance, Driving While License Suspended, and Expired or No Registration.
