Clayton County Sheriff’s Office Mourns Loss of Executive Protection Officer
The Clayton County Sheriff’s Office is mourning the loss of Executive Protection Officer John Will Ellison II, who passed away on Saturday, December 21, 2024. Officer Ellison was found unresponsive at his home and was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced deceased at 7:00 PM.
Officer Ellison was a dedicated member of Sheriff Levon Allen’s Executive Protection Team, known for his professionalism and commitment to public safety. His passing is a significant loss to his family, colleagues, and the Clayton County community.
Funeral services for Officer Ellison will be held on Saturday, December 28, 2024, at 11:00 AM at Now Faith Apostolic Ministries, located at 3406 Rex Road, Rex, Georgia. A burial service will follow on Monday, December 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Sandville Baptist Church in Eufaula, Alabama.
A memorial has been placed outside the Clayton County Courthouse at 9151 Tara Blvd, Jonesboro, Georgia, for those wishing to pay their respects. The memorial will remain until Friday night.
The Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude to the Clayton County Police, Fayette County Sheriff’s Office, Fayetteville Police, Riverdale Police, Jonesboro Police, Clayton County Fire & EMS, and the ER staff at Piedmont Fayette Hospital for their assistance during this difficult time.
