Gwinnett Police Arrest Suspect in Identity Theft and Forgery Scheme Linked to Arizona Property
The Gwinnett County Police Department has arrested Armond Long, 55, of Lilburn, on charges of identity theft and forgery connected to an Arizona property sale.
On December 11, officers from the North Precinct Community Response Team were contacted by investigators from the Lake Havasu City Police Department in Arizona. They reported a case involving a stolen identity and an attempt to sell a victim’s Arizona property by an impersonator.
Gwinnett officers coordinated with the Arizona investigators and arranged a meeting with the suspect in Gwinnett County to finalize the fraudulent sale. On December 17, Long arrived at the meeting location, posing as the victim, and attempted to sign the closing documents. He was arrested on-site without incident and transported to the Gwinnett County Jail.
Long faces two counts of identity theft and first-degree forgery, with the possibility of additional charges as the investigation continues.
Authorities remind the public to monitor their assets and credit reports regularly and report suspicious activity to law enforcement.
