Triple Homicide in Grantville: Suspect Found Guilty and Sentenced to Life Without Parole
On Monday, December 16, 2024, 23-year-old Jacob Christian Muse was found guilty on all 16 counts related to the tragic triple homicide that occurred on April 8, 2022, at the Lock Stock and Barrel Shooting Range in Grantville. Muse was convicted on three counts each of malice murder, felony murder, aggravated battery, aggravated assault, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and a single count of armed robbery. Judge sentencing him described Muse as “selfish, cowardly, and lacking in remorse,” ultimately imposing a life sentence without the possibility of parole.
The brutal killings took place when the Grantville Police Department responded to a 911 call at 8:08 pm on April 8, 2022, made by Coweta County Coroner Tommy Richard Hawk, Jr. Upon arrival, officers discovered the bodies of Tommy Richard Hawk Sr., 75, his wife Evelyn Hawk, 75, and their grandson, Alexander Luke Hawk, 17, all shot to death inside the family-owned Lock Stock and Barrel Shooting Range. The motive for the crime was determined to be the robbery of the family business.
The suspect responsible for the killings also stole nearly four dozen firearms from the range. The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) crime scene specialists spent several days collecting physical evidence from the scene, which was then sent to the GBI and ATF crime labs for expedited analysis. Muse, who was 21 years old at the time of the crime and from College Park, Georgia, was identified as the primary suspect during the investigation. He was later arrested and his residence yielded the recovery of the stolen firearms.
After a trial that lasted several days, the jury deliberated for less than two hours before returning a guilty verdict.
