Traffic Stop Uncovers Meth, Heroin, and Illegal Firearm, Leading to Three Arrests in White County

On Friday, December 6, 2024, the White County Sheriff’s Office initiated a traffic stop on a white Ford F-150 driven by Charles Laster, 58, of Atlanta. K9 Castrol was deployed and alerted to the vehicle. During a subsequent search, deputies located over an ounce of marijuana, five individually packaged quantities of methamphetamine, and an additional two ounces of methamphetamine inside the vehicle.

Following the discovery, a search warrant was executed on Monday, December 10, 2024, at Laster’s residence. Deputies seized 14 individually packaged quantities of methamphetamine, a small quantity of heroin, approximately one ounce of black tar heroin, drug paraphernalia including scales, pipes, and packaging materials, as well as a firearm with its serial number removed.

Three individuals were arrested in connection to the investigation:

  • Charles Laster, 58, of Atlanta
    • Trafficking Methamphetamine
    • Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
    • Possession of Marijuana Greater Than One Ounce
  • Michelle Scott, 42, of Cleveland
    • Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
    • Trafficking Heroin
    • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon
  • Drew Kangiser, 43, of Cleveland
    • Possession of Methamphetamine with Intent to Distribute
    • Trafficking Heroin
    • Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

The investigation remains ongoing.
