Quitman Man Charged with Double Homicide of Wife and Stepdaughter
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested and charged Wilbert Mobley, Jr., 44, of Quitman, GA, in connection with the shooting deaths of his wife, Tamiko Mobley, 48, and his stepdaughter, Tiaja Mobley, 25. The charges include two counts of Malice Murder, two counts of Felony Murder, three counts of Aggravated Assault, and three counts of Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime.
The Brooks County Sheriff’s Office requested GBI assistance on Friday, November 29, 2024, at approximately 9:40 a.m., after deputies responded to a double homicide at a residence on Shiver Lane in Quitman. Deputies found Tamiko and Tiaja Mobley fatally shot inside the home. A man at the scene was also targeted and sustained non-fatal injuries from debris during the shooting.
According to investigators, Tamiko Mobley, who did not live at the residence, was staying with her daughter following an argument with her husband, Wilbert Mobley, Jr., the night before. Quitman Police Department officers, assisting Brooks County deputies, arrested Mobley outside the home shortly after the 911 call.
The victims’ bodies were transported to the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office for autopsies. Mobley has been booked into the Brooks County Jail, and the investigation is ongoing.
