Clayton County Man Convicted of Felony Murder, Sentenced to Life Without Parole
Clayton County District Attorney Tasha M. Mosley announced the conviction of James R. Brown for Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Battery, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.
The trial, presided over by Senior Judge Arch W. McGarity, began on November 11, 2024. On November 15, 2024, the jury returned a guilty verdict. Brown was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus an additional five years to be served in custody.
The case was prosecuted by Deputy Chief Assistant District Attorney Jennifer Brooks, with Assistant District Attorney Jill Hartsfield as second chair. Major Case Investigator Chad Watkins and Victim Advocate Nerissa Sims provided key support throughout the proceedings.
District Attorney Mosley stated, “Due to the involvement of a co-defendant in this case, additional details cannot be disclosed at this time and we hope this conviction provides a sense of justice and closure to Mr. Brown’s family.”
