Georgia Man Charged with Aggravated Assault Against Deputies After Machete Attack
The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has arrested 30-year-old Courtney Deonta Reeves of Jenkinsburg, GA, on charges of Aggravated Assault Against Law Enforcement. The arrest follows an incident involving two Butts County deputies.
On November 18, 2024, at approximately 9:20 a.m., Butts County deputies arrived at a home on County Line Road to serve an eviction notice to Reeves. During the encounter, Reeves reportedly grabbed a machete and began attacking the deputies. Both deputies were injured and transported to the hospital. They are in stable condition and are expected to be released.
Reeves was arrested and booked into the Butts County Jail. The GBI is conducting an independent investigation, which will be turned over to the Towaliga Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review once complete.
