Macon Man Arrested After Barricading Himself During Domestic Dispute

On Sunday, November 17, 2024, Bibb County Sheriff’s Office deputies arrested Ronny Guilmette, 53, after he barricaded himself inside his home during a domestic dispute in the 9000 block of Hopewell Road in Macon.

Deputies responded to a call for assistance at 11:41 a.m. and attempted to make contact with Guilmette, who refused to cooperate. He barricaded himself inside the residence, threatened to shoot deputies if they entered, and initially held a hostage. The hostage was later released unharmed to deputies.

SWAT team members, hostage negotiators, and investigators were dispatched to the scene. At 2:40 p.m., SWAT team members safely removed Guilmette from the barricaded area. A firearm was recovered during the incident, and Guilmette sustained a minor injury, which was treated by paramedics at the scene.

Guilmette, who had outstanding warrants in both Bibb and Houston counties, was taken into custody and transported to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Law Enforcement Center. The incident remains under investigation, and additional charges are pending.
