Parents in Columbus Arrested After Infant’s Death in Unsecured Sleeping Situation
Kiara Davis and Miguel Badillo

Kiara Davis, 27, and Miguel Badillo, 24, have been arrested in connection with the death of their 8-month-old infant on September 27, 2024. Columbus Police responded to the 4300 block of Rosemont Drive where the infant was found deceased. The Special Victims Unit took over the investigation.

Detectives determined that the infant had been placed on an angled mattress on a love seat, with no safety measures in place to prevent the child from rolling off and becoming wedged between the mattress and couch cushions. A search warrant executed at the residence revealed additional details about the unsafe sleeping conditions.

On November 8, 2024, arrest warrants were issued for Davis and Badillo. They were taken into custody on November 13, 2024, and transported to the Muscogee County Jail. Both face charges of 2nd Degree Murder, 2nd Degree Child Cruelty, and Possession of Drug-Related Objects. The investigation is ongoing.
