SWAT Resolves Stone Mountain Standoff Peacefully After Armed Mental Health Crisis

On September 23, 2024, at approximately 6:30 p.m., DeKalb County Police responded to reports of an armed individual experiencing a mental health crisis in the 900 block of Meadow Rock Drive in Stone Mountain. Upon arrival, officers heard gunfire coming from inside the residence. A Mobile Crisis Unit officer discovered a defect in his duty belt but was unharmed.

The SWAT Unit was called to handle the barricaded suspect. As SWAT prepared for a forced entry, the 28-year-old man exited the home and was peacefully taken into custody. No shots were fired by officers during the incident.
