Cobb County Introduces New Community Assistance Response Team
Cobb County has launched a new initiative called the Community Assistance Response Team (CART). This team comprises Community Service Officers (CSOs), who are citizens employed by the department and specially trained to handle situations that do not require sworn law enforcement officers.
The CSOs will perform a variety of duties, including:
- Conducting preliminary investigations
- Patrolling parks and recreation areas
- Assisting with traffic and pedestrian control
- Responding to non-emergency calls
- Investigating minor accidents and ordinance violations
- Promoting safety and building strong community relationships
The CART members are dedicated to providing high-quality community service and supporting neighborhoods in scenarios where a law enforcement response is not necessary. Residents can expect to see these specially marked CART vehicles in their neighborhoods.
