Traffic Stop Uncovers Stolen Firearms in Columbus, 17-Year-Old and Two Juveniles Arrested

On September 8, 2024, an officer conducted a traffic stop on a vehicle leaving Warren Williams Apartments at a high rate of speed, shortly after receiving a report of shots being fired. The vehicle was also found to have improper headlights.

The vehicle was occupied by five individuals. During the investigation, multiple firearms were recovered, including one reported stolen from Phenix City, AL. All occupants were under the legal age to possess firearms. One suspect fled the scene and remains at large.

Kameron Shelton, 17, was arrested and charged with:

  • Possession of Firearms
  • Theft by Receiving Stolen Property
  • Theft by Receiving Stolen Property From Another State
  • Headlights Required
  • Improper Parking

Three juveniles, ages 13, 15, and 17, were arrested and transported to the Regional Youth Detention Center on charges of Minor in Possession of Firearms and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property.

The investigation is ongoing.
