Man Arrested in Douglasville For Murder at InTown Suites Hotel

On July 14, 2024, officers from the Douglasville Police Department were dispatched to the InTown Suites Hotel at 5820 Plaza Parkway following reports of a domestic incident. The situation escalated into a physical altercation involving four individuals, leading to the death of one male.

During the altercation, one of the individuals involved, 32-year-old Brian Deon Mathis, allegedly engaged in an act of violence that resulted in the victim’s death. After the incident, Mathis fled the scene but returned a short time later, where he was apprehended by the authorities.

Following a thorough investigation, Mathis was arrested on charges of Aggravated Assault/Strangulation and Felony Murder. He is currently awaiting trial.
