Fayetteville Police Chief Installed as 62nd President of Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police

Fayetteville Police Chief Scott Gray was installed as the 62nd president of the Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police (GACP) on July 23, 2024, at the GACP Annual Conference in Savannah. Chief Gray was sworn in by his son, Thomas Gray, a detective with the Calhoun Police Department. Prior to this role, Chief Gray served as First Vice President on the GACP Executive Board.

Chief Gray, who has led the Fayetteville Police Department for eight years and has over 33 years of experience in law enforcement, has been instrumental in securing both state and national accreditations for his department.

The induction ceremony was attended by Chief Gray’s family, Fayetteville Police Department leadership, Mayor Ed Johnson, City Manager Ray Gibson, and Assistant City Manager Alan Jones.

“Chief Gray excels at servant leadership,” said Gibson. “Good policework has a lot to do with developing and maintaining good processes, and Chief Gray emphasizes the importance of this. However, he also emphasizes the importance of developing the people who work within these processes to ensure the best service is delivered to the residents of Fayetteville.

“His election is evidence of his commitment to the profession and, more importantly, his commitment to helping others within our Police Department and throughout the State of Georgia,” Gibson continued. “We greatly appreciate all he’s done and is doing to make our Police Department one of the best.”
