Arrest Made in Carjacking at Assisted Living Facility in Gwinnett County
A man was apprehended Thursday following a carjacking incident involving a woman at an assisted living facility. On May 9, at 9:30 pm, officers from the Bay Creek Precinct responded to a carjacking report at 1466 Grayson Highway in unincorporated Lawrenceville. The victim reported being approached from behind by a male wielding a firearm as she walked to her apartment after parking her vehicle. The perpetrator stole her purse and car keys before fleeing.
During the investigation, officers noticed a suspicious vehicle parked nearby containing items like latex gloves commonly associated with such crimes. The registered owner of the vehicle, identified as 25-year-old Keyonne Mann of Grayson, was found to have an active warrant. Mann returned to the scene in an Uber while officers were still present and was subsequently detained.
Mann claimed he didn’t reside in the complex and had parked there because his vehicle was overheating. Following further inquiries, officers traced the Uber’s location, leading them to find the victim’s vehicle a few houses away from where Mann had been picked up.
Mann has been charged with Carjacking, Armed Robbery, Aggravated Assault, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon.
