Manchester High School Student Killed in Shooting, Another Student Injured

Columbus Police Officers responded to a shooting incident on Macon Road near Lake Shore Road late on April 20, 2024.

Upon arrival, officers found two vehicles with gunshot damage and two individuals in each car suffering from gunshot wounds. The victims were rushed to Piedmont Hospital, where Daryus Bryant succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced deceased by an ER doctor at 12:53 a.m. Clarence Flavors, the other victim, underwent surgery for his injuries. The Police Department has not provided an update on Flavors’ condition.

The Meriwether County School District said that Bryant and Flavors were current students at Manchester High School.

“Daryus was an exceptional young man who excelled both in athletics and academics. His untimely passing will undoubtedly cause concern and raise questions within our community, but we remain committed to supporting each other during this challenging time. We will offer on-campus resources for students and keep the other student injured in this unimaginable tragedy in our thoughts and prayers. Our heartfelt condolences go out to the Bryant family, and we wish them peace during this difficult time.”, posted the school district in its facebook page.

The Violent Crimes Unit was called to investigate the scene. Authorities urge anyone with information about the shooting to contact 911 or Corporal Roy Green at (706) 225-4261. Alternatively, individuals can call (706) 225-3161 to leave an anonymous message. Informants may be eligible for a reward leading to an arrest.
