Alpharetta Man Arrested for Allegedly Drugging and Raping Lyft Driver
Alpharetta Police have arrested a 32-year-old man on suspicion of drugging, kidnapping, and raping his Lyft driver, as well as stealing her vehicle. The incident reportedly occurred on Monday, March 11, 2024, when the victim provided transportation to Demarcus Johnson.
According to the police Department, the victim woke up in an unfamiliar hotel room, unable to recall the events of the evening, with her car missing. A toxicology report revealed the presence of prescription narcotics foreign to her system.
Johnson has been charged with aggravated assault, kidnapping, rape, and theft by taking. In response to the incident, a Lyft spokesperson condemned the behavior, stating that it has no place in society. The company has permanently removed the rider’s account from the platform and is providing support to the driver.
Alpharetta PD advised rideshare users to remain cautious and vigilant, emphasizing the importance of being aware of their surroundings.
