Suspect Apprehended for 2021 Fatal Shooting in Clayton County

On June 9, 2021, Tremaine Jackson entered a residence on the 5700 Block of Highway 85 in Clayton County. Jackson reportedly shot the victim multiple times, resulting in the victim’s death. He then fled the scene with a bag and a gun in hand.

Under the leadership of Chief Kevin Roberts, Clayton County Police Department Investigators identified Jackson and secured multiple arrest warrants against him, including charges of murder, burglary, aggravated assault, and firearm possession.

Sheriff Levon Allen of Clayton County activated the Elite Fugitive Squad to pursue Jackson. Additionally, Chief Stuart VanHoozer of Cobb County Police mobilized the VIPER Unit, and Chief Mirtha V. Ramos of DeKalb Police activated her SWAT Team to assist in the apprehension efforts.

Jackson was cornered by law enforcement officers from Cobb County and DeKalb County in an apartment complex off of Bouldercrest Rd. in DeKalb County. He was taken into custody without incident.

Upon his arrest, Jackson was initially placed in the custody of Cobb County Police Chief Stuart VanHoozer’s VIPER Unit to face charges related to armed robbery, gang violence, aggravated assault, and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony in Cobb County.

Once Jackson addresses the charges in Cobb County, Sheriff Levon Allen will dispatch deputies to transport him to the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office at 9157 Tara Blvd in Jonesboro for further legal proceedings.
