University of Georgia Junior Running Back Arrested on DUI Charges
University of Georgia junior running back Trevor Curtis Etienne was arrested by Athens-Clarke County officers on Sunday, March 24, 2024, around 4:30 AM during a routine traffic stop. Jail records indicate that Etienne faces several misdemeanor charges, including DUI, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane, affixing materials that reduce visibility of windows/windshields, and improper driving on the road.
Etienne was charged with “less safe” driving under the influence, which implies driving under the influence with a blood alcohol content below the legal limit of .08 grams. After posting bond, he was released from jail just one hour after being taken into custody.
Hailing from Jennings, Louisiana, Etienne previously played for the University of Florida for two seasons, participating in 24 games with one start. He was also recognized as part of the 2022 SEC All-Freshmen Team. Notably, his brother is currently a running back for the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Steven Drummond, the Executive Associate Athletic Director for Strategic Communications, issued a statement acknowledging the charges, stating, “We are aware of the charges and are currently in the process of gathering additional information. This is a pending legal matter, and we will not have further comment at this time.”
