Roswell Police Seek GBI Assistance in Officer-Involved Shooting
The Roswell Police Department has enlisted the support of the Georgia Bureau of Investigation following an officer-involved shooting in the early hours of March 23rd. The incident occurred at Mazzy’s Sports Bar and Grill, situated at 10729 Alpharetta Hwy.
Multiple distress calls flooded Roswell E-911 shortly after 1 am, reporting an armed individual behaving disruptively within the establishment, brandishing a handgun and threatening patrons and staff. Upon reaching the scene, officers were immediately met by the suspect, a 34-year-old male, just inside the bar’s entrance.
Despite commands to disarm, the suspect refused to comply, aiming his weapon at the officers. In response, a Roswell police officer discharged their firearm, striking the suspect. Immediate medical aid was administered by officers, and the suspect was swiftly transported to a nearby hospital in critical condition.
Per protocol, the Georgia Bureau of Investigation will lead an independent inquiry into the incident, in line with Roswell Police Department policy.
