Duluth Police Department Unveils State-of-the-Art Real Time Crime Center
The Duluth Police Department is celebrating the completion of its advanced Real Time Crime Center, a milestone that underscores the city’s dedication to public safety.
From its modest beginnings in 2017 with fewer than 20 cameras and a single desk, the Real Time Crime Center has undergone a remarkable evolution. Today, it stands as a fully operational hub equipped with cutting-edge technology, featuring nearly 400 strategically placed cameras across the city. This upgrade empowers the team of three full-time and one part-time analysts with almost continuous coverage, facilitating swift and accurate support to officers and detectives in crime-solving and active situation management. Moreover, it serves as a crucial asset during city events, offering a bird’s-eye view for officers and ensuring the safety of residents and visitors.
The new state-of-the-art software and monitor enhancements provide improved clarity and precision, enabling analysts to generate a more accurate real-time understanding of unfolding events. This advancement fosters seamless collaboration with other law enforcement agencies, enhancing efficiency in crime prevention and resolution efforts.
“We are incredibly proud of the advancements made within our Real Time Crime Center,” stated Chief Jacquelyn Carruth of the Duluth Police Department. “This state-of-the-art facility represents a significant investment in the safety and well-being of our community. With these upgrades, we are better positioned than ever to serve and protect the residents and visitors of Duluth.”
The Duluth Police Department reaffirms its commitment to utilizing technology and innovation to fulfill its mission of serving and safeguarding the community. With the completion of the Real Time Crime Center, residents can have confidence that their safety remains a top priority.
