19-Year-Old Arrested in Connection with February Homicide in Bibb County

The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Gang Unit, Drug Unit, and Criminal Investigations Division have arrested 19-year-old Shamar Tyrell Stewart of Macon in connection with the death of Cortavius Hassan Ates on February 10, 2024.

Stewart was apprehended after a search and arrest warrant was executed at a residence within the 400 block of Forest Hill Road. He was transported back to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Headquarters and later to the Bibb County Law Enforcement Center after further investigation.

Shamar Tyrell Stewart faces charges of Aggravated Assault, Participation in Criminal Street Gang Activity, and Murder. He is being held without bond.

Stewart is the third arrested for Murder. 29-year-old Marion Antony Curry of Macon has already been arrested, and earlier, 33-year-old Kendarrious Rayshun Cone of Macon had also been arrested and charged in connection with this murder.
