In an attempt to bolster the growth and development of budding entrepreneurs, the Hawks and Chase teamed up to engage five first-generation “Rookie Entrepreneurs” in educational workshops aimed at enhancing their financial health and understanding of business finances.

The event took place at the Chase Summerhill Branch and featured workshops followed by a fireside chat with Hawks’ Center Clint Capela, focusing on his financial journey throughout his NBA career. Following the discussion, Capela announced a generous donation from the Hawks and Chase, with $5,000 being allocated to each small business to further support their growth and development.

Expressing excitement about the partnership, Hawks’ Vice President of DEI Impact and Strategic Initiatives, Alexis Roe, stated, “Understanding the hurdles entrepreneurs encounter, we enthusiastically join forces with community partners to broaden access to vital information and support, aiming to create equitable opportunities and foster growth potential.”

The participating entrepreneurs represented a diverse range of businesses, including Cal Industries Heat and Air, Kronchy, Youth Authors Publishing, Minorities in Sports, and MoreLyfe Juice.

Mathilda Lambert, Community Manager at Chase’s Summerhill Community Center, emphasized the importance of supporting small businesses, stating, “We’re here to empower Atlanta’s small businesses and to put them on the path to business success, by providing them with the tools and resources they need to foster continued growth.”

The workshops focused on various aspects of financial health, including building and maintaining credit, goal-setting through budgeting and savings, understanding capital, and navigating cash flow.

This event underscores the ongoing commitment of the Hawks and Chase to support small businesses and entrepreneurs. Earlier this month, the organizations collaborated with ATL Alumni to create stylish hoodies celebrating Black History Month.

Additionally, the Hawks recently hosted the sixth annual ‘HBCU Night presented by Chase’ to celebrate the educational excellence and unique culture of Historically Black Colleges and Universities.

The partnership between the Atlanta Hawks and JPMorgan Chase, established in October 2022, aims to expand and grow their integrated community efforts. To learn more about the Hawks’ work in the community, visit Hawks.com/Community.
