81-year-old Lawrenceville Man Charged with Murder of Wife in Senior Living Facility

Detectives have charged an 81-year-old man with Malice Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Felony Murder following the death of his wife in a domestic-related incident.

The suspect, identified as Richard Sidney Hayden of Lawrenceville, was detained after officers responded to a call at 1611 Lawrenceville-Suwanee Road, an unincorporated Lawrenceville senior living facility, around 10:00 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found the deceased body of Grace Hayden, 71, inside one of the rooms. Richard Hayden lived with the victim in the same room.

Richard Hayden is currently being evaluated at a nearby hospital for reasons unrelated to the incident and will be transported to the Gwinnett County Jail once released.

The cause of death will be determined by the Gwinnett County Medical Examiner’s Office. Next of kin notifications have been made.
