Man Shot Following Verbal Dispute in Atlanta, Hospitalized

On July 16, 2024, at approximately 1:14 p.m., Atlanta Police Zone 6 officers responded to a report of a person shot at 1475 Dekalb Ave. NE. Upon arrival, officers located a 20-year-old male victim who had sustained a gunshot wound. The victim was alert, conscious, and breathing, and he was transported to the hospital by ambulance.

The preliminary investigation indicates that the victim sustained his injury near 1572 Hardee St. NE. At that location, the victim was involved in a verbal dispute with a suspect that escalated to gunfire. After sustaining his injury, the victim drove to 1475 Dekalb Ave. NE to seek assistance.

Investigators with the Aggravated Assault Unit responded to the scene to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident. The investigation continues.
