Two Men Arrested After 7-Mile High-Speed Pursuit and Drug Charges
On Monday, July 15, 2024, a traffic stop at Warren Mason Boulevard & Picric St. escalated into a seven-mile police pursuit, ending in multiple arrests on drug-related charges.
The incident began when Glynn County Police (GCPD) officers initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle occupied by David Hightower and Darius Hightower. Following a brief struggle between David Hightower and one of the officers, Hightower fled the scene in the vehicle.
The ensuing high-speed pursuit, which involved multiple GCPD vehicles, reached speeds of up to 120 mph. The pursuit ended when Hightower crashed the vehicle at Golden Isles Parkway and Woodland Way, where he was then apprehended by GCPD.
A search of the vehicle uncovered 1.83 pounds of marijuana, 0.04 grams of MDMA, and over $5000 in cash. Both David and Darius Hightower were subsequently charged.
