GBI Investigates Fatal Shooting of 19-Year-Old at Sumter County Club

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) has launched an investigation into the death of 19-year-old Destiny Adams from Americus, GA, following a request from the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident occurred at the Low Key club on Main Street in Desoto, Sumter County, GA, where deputies responded to reports of gunfire. Two individuals, including Adams, were shot and transported to Phoebe Sumter Hospital for treatment. Adams was later transferred to Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany where she succumbed to her injuries. The other victim was treated and subsequently released from the hospital in Americus.

An autopsy on Adams was conducted at the GBI Medical Examiner’s Office at the Macon Crime Lab as part of the ongoing investigation.
