Man Fatally Shot by Officers in Statesboro After Shooting Spree

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is investigating an officer-involved shooting that occurred in Statesboro at the request of the Bulloch County Sheriff’s Office. The incident resulted in the death of Robert Allen Bostic, 25, of Warner Robins, Georgia. No officers were injured.

According to preliminary information, on June 18, 2024, around 2:45 p.m., Bulloch County Dispatch received multiple calls about a black Chevrolet Camaro involved in several incidents, including a hit and run, reckless driving, and shots fired from the vehicle.

Deputies found a car matching the description at the Gas Pro Travel Center on the corner of Highway 301 and A.J. Riggs Rd. Before deputies arrived, Bostic reportedly pointed a gun at a patron at a nearby pump, who retreated to his vehicle and drove away. Bostic fired at the fleeing vehicle, hitting it in the back.

When officers arrived, the Camaro was parked at a gas pump. One deputy positioned his vehicle in front of the Camaro while another positioned his vehicle at the rear. Bostic exited the driver’s door, and a deputy commanded him to show his hands. Bostic then pulled out a handgun and shot at one of the deputies. Both deputies returned fire, hitting Bostic multiple times.

Bostic was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead. His body will be taken to the GBI Crime Lab for an autopsy.

The GBI will conduct an independent investigation, and the findings will be submitted to the Ogeechee Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office for review.
