Woman Killed in Apparent Murder-Suicide Outside Valdosta Workplace

VALDOSTA, Ga. — A woman was fatally shot outside her workplace Saturday afternoon before her ex-husband turned the gun on himself in an apparent murder-suicide, according to the Valdosta Police Department.

Officers, firefighters, and South Georgia Medical Center EMS responded at approximately noon on June 27 to the 200 block of South Lee Street after multiple callers reported that two people had been shot.

When officers arrived within minutes, they found a 46-year-old woman suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and a 56-year-old man with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.

Officers immediately began rendering first aid.

The woman, identified as Donna Fuller of Moultrie, was transported to South Georgia Medical Center, where she later died from her injuries.

The man, identified as Benjamin Fuller, also of Moultrie, was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to investigators, the former couple had recently finalized their divorce.

Detectives determined that Benjamin Fuller drove to Valdosta and was waiting near Donna Fuller’s workplace. When she went outside to confront him, witnesses saw Benjamin Fuller shoot her before fatally shooting himself.

“Our hearts break for the families and loved ones affected by this tragic act of domestic violence,” Valdosta Police Chief Leslie Manahan said. “Domestic violence can have devastating and irreversible consequences. No family should ever have to endure such an unimaginable loss, and we extend our deepest sympathy to everyone grieving this senseless tragedy as they face the difficult days ahead.”

The investigation remains ongoing.
