Six Firearms Seized, Columbus Man Faces Additional Charges in Drive-By Shooting Investigation
COLUMBUS, Georgia – The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit has filed additional charges against a local man following a drive-by shooting investigation that led to the seizure of six firearms, including one reported stolen.
According to police, investigators conducted a follow-up investigation into a drive-by shooting that occurred on North Lumpkin Road.
On May 28, 2026, detectives went to a residence associated with Corey Anderson and took him into custody on active probation violation warrants.
During the investigation, officers executed a search warrant at the residence and recovered six firearms. Authorities said one of the weapons had been reported stolen.
Following the search, Anderson was initially charged with Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon and Theft by Receiving Stolen Property involving a firearm.
As the investigation continued, detectives obtained additional warrants related to the drive-by shooting.
On June 3, 2026, those warrants were served while Anderson was being held at the Muscogee County Jail.
He now faces the following additional charges:
- Drive-By Shooting
- Aggravated Assault (two counts)
- Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime
Police have not released additional details regarding the circumstances of the shooting or whether other suspects may be involved.
The Columbus Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit said it remains committed to reducing violent crime and removing illegally possessed firearms from the community.
The investigation remains ongoing.
