Cordele Man Charged After Stabbing Leaves Victim Hospitalized

CORDELE, Georgia – The Cordele Police Department arrested a 62-year-old man Friday evening following a stabbing that left another man hospitalized.

Police said officers were dispatched around 6:30 p.m. on May 22 to Crisp Regional Hospital after a stabbing victim arrived by private vehicle seeking treatment.

During the initial investigation, officers determined the incident occurred at a business in the 300 block of West 16th Avenue in Cordele.

Investigators said the 32-year-old victim was able to provide officers with information about the suspect and the circumstances surrounding the stabbing before the case was assigned to the department’s Criminal Investigations Division.

A short time later, officers located the suspect at his residence in Drayton.

Authorities said the suspect was taken into custody without incident and transported to the Cordele Police Department for questioning.

The suspect was later charged with aggravated assault.

Police said the victim remains hospitalized as the investigation continues.
