22-Year-Old Morgan County Man Sentenced to Life for Sexual Abuse of Infant Victim
MADISON, GA — A 22-year-old Morgan County man will spend at least three decades behind bars after pleading guilty to the sexual abuse and exploitation of an infant. Rashawn Richard Sorrell-Tomblin entered a guilty plea on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, and was sentenced to life in prison.
Sorrell-Tomblin was convicted of one count of Rape, two counts of Child Molestation, and eight counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Child. Superior Court Judge Terry Massey ordered the life sentence, noting that due to the severe nature of the offenses, the defendant must serve at least 30 years before becoming eligible to apply for parole.
NCMEC Tip Sparks Investigation
The case originated in January 2026 when the Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) Child Exploitation and Cyber Crimes (CEACC) Unit received a Cyber Tipline Report from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). The tip flagged the online production, possession, and distribution of child sexual abuse material (CSAM).
The subsequent digital and field investigation led agents to Sorrell-Tomblin. Authorities revealed the deeply disturbing detail that the victim involved was less than one year old at the time the offenses were committed.
Coordinated Law Enforcement and Prosecution
The case was investigated by GBI Special Agent Ethan Brown, with critical on-the-ground assistance from the Morgan County Sheriff’s Office.
The swift resolution of the case via a guilty plea was handled by Assistant District Attorney Stephen Morris, Victim Advocate Makenzie Whitley, and Legal Assistant Kelly Calandra.
