Woman Sentenced to Life Without Parole in Clayton County Hotel Room Murder Case
Dina Leach

CLAYTON COUNTY, Ga. — A Clayton County jury convicted a woman of murder and related charges in connection with a 2021 fatal shooting inside a hotel room, according to the Clayton County District Attorney’s Office.

District Attorney Tasha Mosley announced that defendant Dina Leach was found guilty of Malice Murder, Felony Murder, Aggravated Assault, and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony.

Following the conviction, Jewel Scott of the Georgia Superior Court of Clayton County sentenced Leach to life in prison without the possibility of parole, plus five years suspended.

According to prosecutors, the case began on March 8, 2021, when the Clayton County Police Department responded to the scene for a property check after receiving information from the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office in South Carolina.

During the investigation, prosecutors said Leach gave multiple different accounts of what occurred inside Room 322 on the day of the shooting.

At trial, jurors were shown surveillance video that prosecutors said captured Leach leaving the room after the shooting without urgency or concern, then returning briefly before leaving again minutes later.

The state also introduced evidence showing money was transferred from the victim’s Cash App account to Leach following the shooting.

The prosecution team included Chief Assistant District Attorney Zina Pitts and Assistant District Attorney Lauren Young.

District Attorney Mosley thanked investigators and law enforcement agencies involved in the case, including the Clayton County Police Department, the Clayton County Sheriff’s Office, and the Dillon County Sheriff’s Office.
