Man Injured in Cordele Shooting Near Elementary School; Suspect At-Large
CORDELE, Ga. — Police are investigating a shooting that left one man injured Wednesday afternoon, May 6th, according to the Cordele Police Department.
The incident occurred just after 2:30 p.m. in the 500 block of West 24th Avenue. Officers said an adult male sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
First responders rendered aid at the scene before the victim was transported to Crisp Regional Hospital for further treatment. His condition has not been released.
Authorities said the suspect fled the area before officers arrived. Several individuals were temporarily detained during the initial investigation but were later released.
As a precaution, Crisp County Elementary School was placed on lockdown. Investigators later determined there was no threat to the school or surrounding area, and the lockdown was lifted.
The investigation remains active, and no additional details have been released.
