Woman Arrested in Marietta Apartment Shooting That Left Roommate Dead

MARIETTA, Ga. — A 61-year-old woman has been arrested and charged with murder following a shooting at an apartment complex Sunday afternoon, according to the Marietta Police Department.

Officers responded around 4:15 p.m. May 3 to the Alexis Parc 55+ Apartments located at the 300 block of Roselane Street after a caller reported that her roommate had been shot. When officers arrived, they found 62-year-old Lucinda Bailey lying in a third-floor hallway with a gunshot wound.

Police said officers and emergency responders attempted lifesaving measures before Bailey was transported to Wellstar Kennestone Hospital, where she later died.

Investigators identified an upstairs neighbor, Angela Freeman, 61, as the suspect. She was taken into custody without incident.

Freeman is charged with aggravated assault with a weapon, murder and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime. She is being held without bond at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center.
