CONYERS, Ga. — A workplace dispute at a Conyers car dealership resulted in a stabbing and subsequent charges against both men involved, according to Conyers police.

Officers responded at approximately 3:40 p.m. April 24 to a reported stabbing at the Nissan dealership located at the 1400 block of Iris Dr. SW. Upon arrival, they found 29-year-old Derius Dawkins with a stab wound to the upper arm. Police said he was alert and able to identify a co-worker, 49-year-old Orlando Myers, as the suspect.

Dawkins was transported to a local hospital for treatment and has since been released.

Investigators determined Myers fled the scene in a vehicle, which was later located at a nearby apartment complex. Myers was taken into custody without incident and booked into the Rockdale County Jail. He is charged with aggravated assault and possession of a knife during the commission of a crime. His bond was set at $15,000.

Police said a review of surveillance footage indicated Myers may have been provoked by Dawkins prior to the incident. As a result of the ongoing investigation, Dawkins now faces an outstanding warrant for simple battery.

The case remains under investigation.
