Teen Arrested After Shooting Man And Assaulting Grandmother In Macon

MACON, Georgia – A teenager is in custody after allegedly assaulting his grandmother and shooting a man who tried to intervene during an argument in Bibb County.

According to the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the incident began when the teen became upset after being told he could not use a moped that did not belong to him.

Authorities say the teen struck his grandmother in the back of the head with a handgun during the dispute.

When a male attempted to step in and stop the situation, the teen fired multiple shots. Investigators say eight rounds were fired, with one striking the man in the arm.

The teen fled the home on Houston Road following the shooting.

He was later taken into custody after returning to the residence. Corporal Shenisha Hutchings and a member of the U.S. Marshals Southeast Regional Fugitive Task Force assisted in the arrest.

The juvenile was then turned over to Sergeant Timorthy Jones and transported to the Macon Regional Youth Detention Center.

The investigation remains ongoing.
