Georgia Man With Prior Drug Convictions Pleads Guilty After Machine Gun, Fentanyl Found in Home
Macon, GA — A Georgia man with previous drug convictions has pleaded guilty in federal court after authorities found him in possession of firearms, including a machine gun, along with fentanyl and other drugs he intended to distribute.
Rodricas Montreal Jacks, 39, of Sparta, Georgia, pleaded guilty on March 3 before U.S. District Judge Marc Treadwell to one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
Jacks faces up to 15 years in federal prison, followed by three years of supervised release and a possible $250,000 fine. His sentencing hearing is scheduled for June 2. There is no parole in the federal prison system.
According to court documents, Jacks was on probation for a previous felony drug distribution conviction when authorities began investigating him for violating the conditions of his supervision.
Officials said Jacks failed to complete required community service and failed two drug tests while on probation.
On Nov. 3, 2022, law enforcement conducted a search of Jacks’ residence and discovered three firearms inside the home, including a machine gun and another firearm that had been reported stolen.
Investigators also found fentanyl and marijuana that authorities said Jacks intended to distribute.
Additional evidence recovered included multiple digital scales, small plastic bags commonly used to package drugs and a large amount of cash. Officers also located suspected crack cocaine inside Jacks’ vehicle.
The investigation was conducted by the Georgia Department of Community Supervision with assistance from the Ocmulgee Drug Task Force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.
Assistant U.S. Attorney Hannah Couch is prosecuting the case.
