Colquitt County Deputy Critically Injured in Crash with Semi-Truck

COLQUITT COUNTY, Ga. — A Colquitt County deputy remains in critical condition following a crash involving a patrol vehicle and a semi-truck Tuesday morning.

The collision occurred at approximately 9:52 a.m. on March 3, 2026, at the intersection of Veterans Parkway South and Southside Drive, according to the Colquitt County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the crash involved the deputy’s marked patrol vehicle and a semi-truck. The Georgia State Patrol Specialized Crash Reconstruction Team (SCRT) is investigating the incident.

The semi-truck driver was transported to Colquitt Regional Medical Center for evaluation and has since been treated and released.

The deputy was transported to Archbold Memorial Hospital and has been admitted to the intensive care unit, where officials say he remains in serious condition. Medical staff indicated the first 24 hours following the crash would be the most critical.

The sheriff’s office said preliminary information suggests the deputy may have failed to yield the right of way after stopping at a stop sign. However, officials emphasized that the Georgia State Patrol will complete an independent investigation to determine the exact cause of the crash.

Authorities asked the community to keep those involved, along with their families and fellow first responders, in their thoughts as the investigation continues.
