Cobb Police: No Signs of Foul Play in Death of Young Man at Fair Oaks Park
The Cobb County Police Department is addressing community concerns following the death of a young man at Fair Oaks Park, stating that there are currently no signs of foul play.
In a statement, police said they are aware of misinformation circulating on social media that has fueled speculation the death may have been an act of violence.
“Our community is understandably concerned about the death of a young man at Fair Oaks Park,” the department said. “We are aware that misinformation is being circulated on social media that has created fear and speculation that this could be an act of violence.”
Authorities emphasized that the scene was processed carefully and thoroughly from the beginning of the investigation. All available evidence is being examined, and the case has been forwarded to the Medical Examiner’s Office for a full autopsy and toxicology analysis.
“At this time, there are no signs of foul play,” the department stated, adding that investigators will continue to follow the evidence wherever it leads.
Cobb County Chairwoman Lisa Cupid acknowledged the community’s concerns.
“This is a heartbreaking situation for everyone involved,” Cupid said. “We acknowledge the concerns being voiced throughout our community and want residents to know that this matter is being taken seriously. We ask for patience as the investigation continues and for compassion toward the family during this very difficult time.”
Police Chief Dan Ferrell also addressed the public’s concerns.
“We understand the fear and concern that situations like this can bring to a community,” Ferrell said. “My commitment is that we will follow the facts wherever they lead and ensure that this investigation is handled with the utmost care, transparency, and respect for the young man and his family. Our community deserves truth, and his family deserves dignity.”
Officials said additional information will be shared once the investigation is complete.
