Atlanta Police Arrest Convicted Felon After Traffic Stop Leads to Drug and Firearm Seizure
ATLANTA, Georgia – An Atlanta man is facing multiple felony charges after a routine traffic stop escalated into a brief foot chase and the discovery of drugs and a firearm.
On January 22, 2026, at approximately 6:42 p.m., Atlanta Police Department Zone 4 officers conducted a traffic stop on a Nissan Altima near 538 Lee Street SW after learning the driver was operating the vehicle with a suspended license. During the stop, the driver ignored officers’ commands and attempted to flee on foot but was quickly apprehended.
The driver was identified as 30-year-old Sylvon Brush. Officers conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered more than four pounds of marijuana along with a firearm.
Investigators determined that Brush is a convicted felon, making his possession of a firearm illegal. He was taken into custody and charged with driving while license suspended, pedestrian in the roadway, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, willful obstruction of law enforcement officers, and possession of marijuana.
Brush was transported to the Fulton County Jail, where he remains in custody pending further court proceedings.
