Teen Charged as Adult After Gunfire Strikes Marietta Movie Theater

MARIETTA, Ga. – A 16-year-old male has been charged as an adult after investigators determined he fired multiple gunshots outside a Marietta movie theater late last month, striking a vehicle and the theater building but injuring no one, police said.

According to the Marietta Police Department, officers were dispatched just after 10 p.m. on December 23, 2025, to the NCG Theater at 1050 Powder Springs Street following multiple 911 calls reporting a shooting. Initial information provided to dispatchers was conflicting, including reports about the number of shots fired and possible victims.

Officers from the Marietta Police Department, along with responding units from Cobb County, secured the scene and conducted a systematic sweep of the theater to locate any injured individuals and preserve evidence. Investigators later determined that approximately six rounds were fired from a handgun, striking a parked vehicle and the front of the theater. No patrons or employees were hit by the gunfire.

Following an extensive investigation, detectives identified a local 16-year-old male as the suspect. After reviewing the case with the Cobb County District Attorney’s Office, authorities obtained a warrant charging the juvenile as an adult with aggravated assault with a weapon, a felony offense.

The warrant was secured on Wednesday afternoon, January 14. Police said the suspect turned himself in later that evening and was processed at the Cobb County Adult Detention Center before being transferred to the Cobb County Youth Detention Center.

Due to the suspect’s age, his name has not been released.
