Two Arrested, Large Fentanyl Seizure Made During Multi-Agency Operation in Bacon County
On the evening of December 3, the Bacon County Sheriff’s Office worked alongside the Alma Police Department, the Georgia State Patrol, and the Drug Enforcement Administration during a narcotics investigation that led to two arrests and the recovery of a significant amount of illegal drugs.
During the operation, one suspect attempted to escape in a vehicle. After a short pursuit, Georgia State Patrol personnel stopped the car, and the driver, 17-year-old William Sincere McMorris of Alma, was taken into custody without incident. Officers found about 1,700 fentanyl pills weighing 249 grams inside the vehicle. McMorris was taken to the Bacon County Jail on traffic charges, and additional drug charges are expected.
Investigators also executed a search warrant at 132 Edgewood Drive. Inside the home, they found roughly 8.7 grams of methamphetamine. Tykeem Shamad Brinson, 24, of Alma, was arrested and taken to the Bacon County Jail. He is being charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute and possession of a firearm during the commission of a crime.
Sheriff Andy Batten praised the teamwork that made the operation successful. He noted that stopping this quantity of fentanyl from reaching the community may have prevented numerous overdoses. He added that the agency remains focused on combating illegal narcotics locally and beyond.
The Sheriff’s Office thanked the DEA, the Alma Police Department, the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Team, and the Georgia State Patrol for their support and cooperation.
