Omega Man charged with Murder in Fatal Gas Station Shooting

Omega, GA – State investigators have charged a 19-year-old Omega man in the shooting death of Jonathan Turner, 30, after a deadly encounter outside a Citgo gas station Friday night.

The Georgia Bureau of Investigation said Justin Contreras was arrested and faces charges that include malice murder, felony murder, two counts of aggravated assault and two counts of possession of a firearm during a felony.

Omega police were called to the Citgo at 5530 Alabama Avenue around 8:15 p.m. on November 21 after reports of a shooting. Officers found Turner dead at the scene with what appeared to be a gunshot wound.

Turner’s body has been taken to the GBI Crime Lab in Macon for an autopsy.

Contreras was booked into the Tift County Jail. Investigators said the case remains active and more information will be released as the investigation moves forward.
