Columbus Man Arrested in Fatal Shooting at Budgetel Inn & Suites

Columbus, GA – Columbus Police responded to a shooting at the Budgetel Inn & Suites, 3100 block of Victory Drive, at approximately 7:19 p.m. on November 16. Officers discovered 31-year-old Xavier Igus suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported by EMS to Piedmont Columbus Regional, where he was pronounced dead at 8:04 p.m. by emergency room staff.

The Columbus Police Violent Crimes Unit took the lead on the investigation.

On November 18, 2025, 23-year-old Ricky Daniels was taken into custody by CPD’s Fugitive Unit. Daniels is charged with Murder and Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Crime in connection with Igus’ death.
