Visiting Softball Umpire Arrested for Public Indecency in Valdosta Motel Lobby

VALDOSTA, Ga. – A Tennessee man visiting Valdosta to umpire a softball tournament was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly intentionally exposing his genitals to a motel employee.

The incident occurred on November 9, 2025, at approximately 8:30 a.m., when employees at the Quality Inn on Gornto Road called 911. They reported that a guest, identified as Cody Collins, 56, was sitting in the lobby and intentionally exposed his genitals to an adult employee.

  • Evidence: Valdosta Police Officers obtained surveillance video that corroborated the employee’s report.
  • Apprehension: Officers determined that Collins, who was visiting from Tennessee to umpire a softball tournament, had already left the motel for the ballpark. After contacting the tournament organizer to locate him at Freedom Park, officers took Collins into custody without incident.

Collins was transported to the Lowndes County Jail and charged with Public Indecency (misdemeanor).

Valdosta Police Chief Leslie Manahan issued a statement on the arrest: “It is disappointing that someone visiting our community to umpire a softball tournament would engage in this type of behavior. I commend our officers on their professionalism and quick action. We want to make it clear that we will not tolerate this conduct in our city.”
